Austral Islands Spatula and Fly Whisk
This fascinating fly whisk is from the Austral Islands in the South Pacific just South of Tahiti and West of Pitcairn Island.
This rare melanesian whisk features an exquistely carved handle with an age-related patina from use. It is in excellent condition . Fly whisks, aside from the very practical purpose of removing swarms of flys, have ritual utility as well and are frequently used as status symbols.
