Another Stunning Presentation that changes any tableau into an artistic statement, this outstanding example of an Authentic Chi wara with headdress was actually used in ritual dances. The Chi Wara, whose long horns represent hoes, is the mythical antelope that taught the Bambara (Bamana) people of Mali how to farm. In ritual dance ceremonies both male and female Chi Wara are represented. This depiction is of a male carved from a single log, its dark patina showing age. It is portrayed with pierced nasal septum, open mouthed, detailed designs and necklace. A graceful and beautiful authentic example of art and the culture.
